OHSUTP workshops are open to staff, peers and volunteers of publicly funded health and social service providers or charities in Ontario.
We begin workshops promptly and ask that you please show up 15-30 minutes before the scheduled start. Although you may be registered to attend the workshop, you will need to sign the attendance form when you arrive; this is the only record OHSUTP will have of your attendance and we cannot issue a certificate if you do not sign-in and participate in the full workshop.
As there is often varied knowledge and experience amongst participants, and the nature of the subject matter can be challenging or emotionally triggering for some, we do our best to develop a safe space for all to learn and share. Each workshop begins with introductions of all facilitators and participants, an overview of the day, and the development of group guidelines and expectations. Don’t worry, we have fun too!
Throughout the workshop, each topic builds on ones previous and we cannot allow people to come in after a workshop has started. Not only would you be missing fundamental knowledge or concepts that aid in later discussion, this also disrupts group dynamics and learning for others. We ask that you respect fellow participants and be there on time and from the beginning. If you show up late you will not be allowed to participate and will be asked to attend a future workshop.
If you need to cancel your attendance, please inform us at least two business days prior to a workshop, as we can let someone on the waiting list attend.
OHSUTP works hard to make our training accessible to service providers across the province. Workshops are typically provided free of charge to those attending. Unfortunately, we do not have the budget to cover catering at our workshops. Unless we find a sponsoring agency, any fee associated with our training is to cover the cost of food.
We find it beneficial to provide food onsite so that participants may stay in the training location, save on time and network, so most workshops are catered. If there is a fee, it is imperative that you mail a cheque* ahead of time, or inform us that you will bring payment to the workshop. We will issue receipts if requested.
Please give us notice at least two business days before the workshop to:
- Decline the catering arrangements (i.e., you will not require food or refreshments and will not pay).
- Ensure your food requirements (e.g., allergies restrictions) are met.
- Issue a refund if you have cancelled your attendance.
Failure to make payment before or on the day of training may jeopardize your participation; you may either be asked to not attend the training, or we may make arrangements to follow up with your agency in order to receive payment.
If you have any questions about these policies, please call 1.866.591.0347.
